Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project

Project Details

The Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project (PMBP) is a very important large scale infrastructure project in the transport sector of Bangladesh. The implementation of the project will significantly benefit various sectors of the economy of Bangladesh. The Padma Bridge will provide direct links between two major ports (Land port, Benapoleand Seaport, Mongla) of Bangladesh and connects missing links for Tamabil-Sylhet-Sorail-Kanchpur-Dhaka-Mawa-Bhatiapara-Norail-Jessore-Benapoleand will be an integral part of the Asian Highway No 1 and Trans-Asian Railway Network Systems.

Therefore, on the behalf of the government of Bangladesh (GOB), the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) is implementing the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project (PMBP or the Project) with its own fund. The Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEAP) is carried out for the Contract -1: the main bridge of the PMBP.  The main bridge of the PMBP involves the construction of  11.5km right bank revetment at Janjira Site and 1.5km long left bank revetment at Mawa Site.

The BBA has engaged MBEC as the Contractor to implement the construction works of the main bridge of the PMBP for 4 years. According to the contract document, MBEC is also responsible to prepare and implement the Construction Environmental Action Plan (CEAP) of the main bridge of the PMBP. The main purpose of this CEAP is to implement and maintain by the Contractor and to ensure the mitigation of project negative impacts and enhancement of project positive impacts. MBEC has been engaged EQMS Consulting Limited to prepare the Construction Environmental Action Plan (CEAP) of the main bridge of the PMBP.
